Dear Families, At Trimble County Schools, we know the importance of school meals in fueling both healthy minds and bodies. Even though school meals may look a little different during School Year 2021-2022, please know that your school nutrition team is working hard to ensure students have safe, nutritious, and appealing meals. Today, I am writing to share how our district is working to overcome food supply and labor challenges related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency so that students continue to receive school meals. At times, our school district may not receive expected food orders due to labor shortages (such as delivery drivers) and limited product availability (for example, discontinued products or not enough of a specific type of product). As a result, your school may need to make last-minute changes to the menu or substitute a different brand of a food product. We know that students have favorite menu items and are working hard to provide them whenever possible. We are also thinking ahead to identify alternative food items that are nutritious and appealing for the students. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we work to provide school meals in a challenging and changing environment. Please contact Angela Adkins, Trimble County Schools Nutrition Director with any questions, feedback, or suggestions 502-663-0043 or via e-mail at angela.adkins@trimble.kyschools.us. Dear TC Students and Families, Just recently, Kentucky legislators passed Senate Bill 1 (SB1) which removed the Kentucky Board of Education’s universal mask mandate for all Kentucky’s schools, effective this Friday, the 17th. This means, after Friday, the decision to “mask or not” now falls to each district. Because the state has handed this choice back to the districts, moving forward we have increased flexibility to make the best decision possible for our students based on our specific, localized, community and district data. We can choose to lift the mask requirement when our numbers reach safer levels. Trimble County Schools collectively, with the Trimble Co. Board of Education will revisit the mask mandate in the upcoming weeks and develop a set of metrics, to be adopted, that will enable mask use to be discontinued when district specific and overall community data determine it is safe to do so. The following metrics have been consistently monitored by the Superintendent and district leadership since the beginning of the 2020-21 school year: Community Incidence Rates, District Incidence Rates and District Quarantine Numbers. Until our metric matrices is developed, Trimble County Schools will continue to require students, staff and visitors to wear masks in our facilities and on our school buses. As soon as the matrix has been developed, we will communicate that information with you all. Thank you for partnering with us, as we do all we can to keep our staff and students safe and to maintain in-person learning.
