Commonwealth Credit Union Scholarship What is the Commonwealth Credit Union Scholarship? The Commonwealth Credit Union Scholarship is a one-time $1,000 scholarship that is awarded to four high school seniors for use in post-secondary education. It utilizes a video submission where applicants tell their personal story on bettering lives, both now and in the future. They also share their insights into banking experiences for young adults. Students may access the scholarship application through our website at: www.ccuky.org/scholarships. When is the deadline? All submissions must be fully completed and uploaded by 11:59 pm ET on March 18, 2022, to: www.ccuky.org/scholarship-application. Only digital submissions to this link are allowed. How do students apply? With creativity and passion, each student will record a short video (5-minute limit) and upload it to YouTube as unlisted. Once done, the student must complete a short submission form on our website where they will upload the URL to the recording. The student should address the following in their video: How are you currently Bettering Lives in your community? How can CCU Better the Lives of college-aged students? How will your education empower you to Better Lives in the future? What are you looking for from your banking experience? Who is eligible? To be eligible the student must be a graduating high school senior attending post-secondary education in the fall of 2022 at a university, college, trade school, or program resulting in certification or license. They must also be the primary account holder on a Commonwealth Credit Union membership on or before March 18, 2022. For information on membership, visit Why Commonwealth Credit Union › Commonwealth Credit Union (ccuky.org). For more information on scholarship eligibility, click here. How are the winners selected? A panel of three judges comprised of professionals in the field of community outreach, education, and/or civic awareness will view and score each video submission. To ensure a fair adjudication process, no CCU employees serve on this panel. Video submissions are scored using a rubric based on the application criteria. The four highest-ranking videos will be the scholarship winners. Traditionally, judging takes place in April and applicants are notified of decisions in May. I have questions about the scholarship. Who should I contact? Our Marketing Supervisor, Lindsay Orange, serves as our Scholarship Coordinator: Lindsay Orange Marketing Supervisor Commonwealth Credit Union lorange@cwcu.org (502)564-4775, ext. 5299

ATTENTION JUNIORS-SHELBY ENERGY YOUTH TOUR We are excited to announce that Shelby Energy will sponsor three students for the 2022 Washington Youth Tour June 17-23. Last year, the Youth Tour was cancelled due to COVID-19, but we are so happy to provide this opportunity again. However, we are required to provide the names of participants by January 1. For this reason, we are asking that all applications be completed by December 30. We have simplified the applications this year and will only require a short essay from our applicants. This is a week-long event where Juniors from across the country meet in Washington D.C. to tour museums and government buildings to learn about our nation’s history, governments and the role that Cooperatives play in our future. To be eligible, students must be a Junior as of Fall 2021, and they must have a parent or legal guardian that is currently served by Shelby Energy Cooperative. Please share this information with students.
