Week of August 10, 2020

August 10, 2020

Happy August MES Families,

I wanted to pass on some additional information as we are just a little over 2 weeks until the  first day of school. I know that there may still be some questions still hanging out there as we get closer to that first day.  I have spoken to some of you over the phone or via messenger to help with answers based on current information. Please know that as we make decisions, we will provide you with information and timelines by the end of each week to ensure that you have the most current information.

Here are a couple of the questions that have been asked that you might have had as well:

  • When will we know who are child's teacher is? We have made a few tweaks to our class lists even this morning due to finalizing parent indications of virtual/face-to-face and to ensure that our class sizes allow for social distancing. Ms. Jill  is available if you need to know which teacher your child has.
  • Supply Lists? See links below.
  • When can I pick  up my Chromebook? Chromebooks may be picked on up Monday, August 24th or Tuesday, August 25th between 8:15 am-4:00 pm in the MES library. Ms. Lisa will have a Chromebook User Agreement that you must sign along with the $50 Technology Fee before checking out a Chromebook. If you are unable to make either of these times, please call Ms. Lisa to schedule and alternate time. Classroom teachers will also have any supplies/books needed to be picked up at that time as well.
  • How will I know how my student will access their virtual classroom? Classroom teachers will create a digital passport with your student's login information to be picked up when you pick up your child's Chromebook. Your child's teacher will reach out to you by Friday, August 28th to check in to see what questions that you or your student may have. You will receive weekly correspondence moving forward.

We are also pleased to welcome three new teachers to the MES team this! Katelyn Temple will be part of our Primary Academy Team teaching K-1. Jackie Shaffer will also be part of our Primary Academy Team teaching 2nd grade. We also welcome Meredeth Riley as our new Speech Therapist. We are so excited with the passion and positivity that these new team members bring to our MES family.

We look forward to seeing our students again whether it be in person or via Google Meet. Feel free to reach out if you still have questions or concerns and stay tuned for additional updates as we get closer to August 26th.
