Last Day of School

Dear MES Families,

Today is the last day of school! It's hard to believe, but we made it. Today will be like no other last day in which we have celebrations and gatherings. Instead we will quietly close out the year with teachers entering final grades in empty classrooms and students turning in work to a tote in the lobby with no hugs and high fives from their teachers. This is not a reality that any of us have imaged and it brings sadness to my heart to know that we are here. Nevertheless, let's finish strong and know that we are cheering you on!

Please note the following:

  • All student work is due today whether paper or electronic by 3:30 pm. The office will be open until then.
  • Library books, Chromebooks, and any classroom materials are also due today.

Ms. Ginn and Mrs. Calvert will available from noon until 6:00 pm for families to stop by the back gym to door to receive their kindergarten graduation certificate and a quick photo opportunity in the gym. Please reach out to them if you have questions.

Teachers will be working through May 26th in order to complete grading and finish report cards. Report cards will be mailed to families on May 27th. If you have outstanding materials that belong to the school, your student's report card will be held for pick up in the office upon return of school materials. I will be providing a short explanation of how final grades are calculated at the time they are issued.

Kindergarten registration packets are available in the office and due back on May 20th. We will reach out to schedule a screening appointment once we have been cleared for face-to-face interactions. Please watch our website and social media for more information to come.

Meal pick up through the TCPS will continue next week with May 22nd being the last day. We are excited to announce that we will begin a summer feeding program through UMC Food that will pick up where schools leave off for summer meals for students. This will begin on Tuesday, May 26th from 11:30-1 at MES and Thursday, May 28th in Bedford for students. I will provide more information on how to get started next week.

Last but not least, we send our AMAZING 6th grade students off to the Jr/Sr high with heavy hearts knowing that we missed all of our end of year activities. While our hearts ache, we know that they will be amazing in this next step in their journey. Have an amazing summer and know that we love and miss you all!

Ms. Jill and I will be available in the office throughout the summer. If you have questions please give us a call or stop by. We are happy to help.
