Trimble County Schools Announce Graduation Plans for Senior Class of 2020

Trimble County Sr. High School has issued a plan for the Senior Class of 2020 graduation ceremonies. Earlier this month, schools statewide were closed for the rest of the academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and while no one wants to make changes, we must modify how we celebrate Graduation 2020. We are excited to announce that the high school will conduct a modified graduation ceremony that will allow the seniors to walk across the stage and receive their diploma, the same as all seniors that have gone before them. Each senior will have their name called, will walk across the stage in their cap and gown and be awarded their diploma. A professional Videographer will record the procession of each senior and will compile a graduation video that will be premiered for seniors and their families at the Sauerbeck Drive In on May 30, 2020 at 9:15pm. Following Graduation Day, the video will be available for the public to view.

Graduation Ceremony must adhere to the following procedures:

• Seniors will be designated a time to report to the school on May 15th or May 16th for their individual graduation.

• Each student may have a maximum of six {6) guests.

• All guests must be family members.

• Guests and graduates will be required to wear and bring their own masks.

• Names and contact information of all guests, organized by the senior’s session and time, must be submitted to the principal.

• The student and their guests will be asked to park in a designated area of the parking lot, and a specific entrance for accessing and departing the building will be identified.

• All participants and guests will be limited to accessing only the portion of the building being used for this ceremony; all restrooms will be closed.

• Each student will cross the stage after his/her name is called and be presented with a diploma.

• Before exiting the stage, students will have an opportunity to pause so that the family may capture a photograph and a professional photographer will also be present to photograph the student.

• The traditional senior walk across the stage, and the diploma presentation will be videoed.

• All graduation speakers will present their remarks individually and be videoed.

• All video segments will be edited to create a Graduation Video that will be premiered to the Seniors and their families on Graduation Day at the Sauerbeck Drive In on May 30th at 9:15pm. Each graduate will be issued tickets for three (3) vehicles to join the Graduation Video Premiere.

• At the conclusion of each student's session, families will be asked to exit the building and go directly to their vehicles in order to allow the next scheduled student and family access.

• Our goal is to make this celebration a memorable occasion, but also comply with the Governor's Executive order and Health Department regulations.

• The school will be contacting seniors and families with more specific details before May 6, 2020.

As a result of the ever changing pandemic information and while we know there is a phased process for opening our communities back up, we also know that in the blink of an eye it could be shut back down again. We wanted to formulate a soundproof graduation plan that ensured we would properly be able to honor the Graduating Class of 2020 in these unprecedented times.
