School Closure/NTI Days

March 13, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Kentucky Department of Education Interim Commissioner, Kevin Brown, announced in a news conference yesterday that they strongly recommend all Kentucky school districts close for a two-week period, beginning Monday, March 16th.

Therefore, Trimble County Public Schools will close for two weeks, starting Monday, March 16th, through Friday, March 27th. During this two-week closure, we will continue to provide instruction and meals for our students.

Timeline and Delivery of Instruction:
March 16th – March 27th - We will be utilizing 10 Non-Traditional Instructional days (Raider Days) from March 16th through March 27th. Today, students will be bringing home instructional lessons for the next two weeks. Should ANY student or parent need assistance in accomplishing the home lessons….PLEASE CALL YOUR CHILD’s SCHOOL! Our staff will be reporting to school for the next two weeks to give daily feedback to students, respond to student and parent emails and assist students and parents over the phone. We are here to help and will do whatever we can to provide our students and families the support that they need.

March 30th – Our goal is for our students to return to school on this day. Once again, we will follow the recommendation of our Government Leaders and Health Professional Agencies. If it is recommended that schools should remain closed for a longer period of time….then Trimble County Schools will follow that recommendation. The safety and well-being of our students, staff and community is our number one priority and we will follow the advice of the experts in response to this Pandemic Situation.

April 6 – April 10 – Regularly Scheduled Spring Break

Communications:
We will continue to utilize our district website at https://www.trimble.kyschools.... to communicate updated information. In addition, we will utilize other communication channels such as notifications through text messages, voice calls, and social media channels (Facebook). Please continue to check our social media outlets for updates during the next two weeks.

School Trips/Extracurricular Activities/Athletics/ACES:
Beginning Monday, March 16, all school trips, athletic activities (including games and practices), club meetings, academic competitions, ACES and any other extracurricular activities are suspended until further notice. This includes the use of our facilities by outside groups.

Meal Service:
It is important to us to provide nutritious meals to students each day at school as well as during extended breaks. We have a meal service plan in place to ensure our students have consistent and healthy meals beginning on Monday, March 16th and offered each day, Monday-Friday, through March 27th. Meals are free for anyone under age 19. We will provide an opportunity for families to drive through and pick up meals for the children in their household at either Trimble Co. Jr/Sr. High or Milton Elementary School. We will provide Lunch for that day and Breakfast for the following day. Meals will be available for pickup between 12:00 pm and 1:00pm. Please stay inside your car and meals will be delivered to your vehicle. We will ask you the number of children in your home and will distribute meals to you based on that information.

Pick up sites:

Trimble County Jr/Sr. High for all Bedford area students- drive around to the back of the building for pick up.

Milton Elementary for all Milton area students- pull in the student drop off area of the school.

Families that do not have transportation and are unable to access one of the pick-up sites may call 502-255-3201 to request delivery. Please provide the following information: your name, address, how many children are in the home, and we can arrange to deliver meals to you starting at 12pm.

For precautionary reasons, meals cannot be consumed on site. We encourage families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by NOT congregating at the school site once meals have been distributed, continue to wash your hands often, sneeze or cough into a tissue and stay home if you are sick.
