Non-Traditional Instruction Days (Raider Days)

 Milton Elementary School

Non-Traditional Instructional Days

Milton Elementary school will continue to provide quality instruction for our students in the event of inclement weather during non-traditional instructional days using a combination of traditional learning methods and web-based technology using a blended learning model.

Notifications

Families will be notified using the current system for school cancellations utilizing the district one-call system, phone messages, radio/television, district website, and social media. This notification will identify if it is an NTI day with directions to follow your school’s plan.

Staff Availability

Teachers from Milton Elementary will be available through email during school hours for questions and/or help with assignments. Additionally, staff may be available by phone. A chart has been created to show each teacher’s availability and will be posted on the day of the event. If the main roads are clear, staff will be onsite at the school to allow families access to wifi and/or the computer lab scheduled for 30 minute blocks. Families will receive a one call from Milton Elementary with available times.

Delivery of Instruction

In the Lower Elementary (grades K-2), students will have folders for pencil-paper instructional activities. Additionally, students may access online instructional sites identified by their classroom teachers. In preparation for snow days, teachers will develop packets. The instruction in these packets will be based on the grade level pacing guide and are intended to be used as enrichment or pre-teaching.

In the Upper Elem (grades 3-6), students will have a combination of web-based instruction and pencil-paper instruction. Teachers in these grade levels will also develop packets based on the grade level pacing guide in order to prepare for snow days.

Accountability

Students are responsible for completing assignments and returning them to school within three days. Digital assignments will automatically be recorded. These are REQUIRED for reporting to the state in order to receive credit for the day.
