Attached is an article that district and building leaders are engaged in reading and analyzing over the next few LTM meetings. This was shared at OVEC and as part of the roll out of the new math and ELA standards at KDE. It provides much food for thought regarding our charge to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum to all students, which aligns with our mission statement and our work over the last few years.
Over the coming weeks we will begin the process of unpacking the new standards. We are looking for teacher leaders to engage in the work alongside admin to devise the best plan for roll out during our work days prior to the start of school and to continue to rework curriculum frameworks and vertical alignments during our 4 embedded PD days next year. Please let your principal know if you interested in participating in the planning process.
The cohort held its last meeting of this school year last Thursday. We reviewed the feedback from the faculty meeting presentations to see what clarifications may still need to be made at the beginning of next year as we roll out full implementation. We have begun work on a rubric and student outcomes for each competency. The plan is for the cohort to be in place again next year with the hope of having representation from every level as we move forward.
New teacher cohort:
Our last meeting will be on Monday 4/29 in the board room at central office.
Thank you for all you do for the students of Trimble County!
