New Principal at BES

Bedford  Elementary SBDM would like to announce the selection of Mrs. Shannon Stark as the new principal.  She will take the helm effective July 1st, although she has already begun planning.  We are very excited for the future of the Bedford learning community.  Below is a letter of introduction from Mrs. Stark.  Please join me in welcoming her to her new role.

Dear BES Families, Friends, and Community Members:

I am honored to have been selected as the new Principal of Bedford Elementary School and am looking forward to working with the dedicated staff, as well as all stakeholders, to provide the highest quality educational program possible for our students. I feel truly blessed to be the instructional leader of such an awesome school community. I am energized and dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of BES students. This will be accomplished through consistent communication, high academic expectations for all children, and providing support systems to assure they are met.

I am a Hanover College graduate and have been employed by the Trimble County Public School District for the past 22 years. I’ve served in various roles including fourth grade teacher, learning and behavior disorder teacher, and teacher of the visually impaired. Most recently, I have served as a kindergarten teacher where it was my pleasure to welcome students and parents into the BES family.

My belief is that classrooms should foster a child’s curiosity by providing opportunities to explore, discover, and struggle productively. Classrooms should be led by caring, high quality teachers that inspire a love of learning in all students. We will continue to work toward providing academic experiences that are rigorous and relevant while maintaining a just, fair, and caring learning environment.

In closing, I am excited to work with the students, teachers, families, and community members of Trimble County to establish a shared vision for the students of Bedford Elementary School. My door will always be open to volunteers and all who have our next generation learners at heart. I believe our children have the world at their fingertips and ask for your support in empowering our students for future success.

Shannon T. Stark
